How to stop Narawen Inox POP3 Connector from putting information events into event log?

By default Narawen Inox POP3 Connector logs all information into Application event log related with messages being transferred. At busy systems it might flood event log with unnecessary information events. You can switch verbose logging off by proceeding with following steps:

  1. Open Administration Application.
  2. Right click at mail transfer host and select Properties menu option.
  3. Select Log tab.
  4. Select “Do not log detailed information events” option.
  5. Click OK button to save the changes.
  6. The InoxSvc service will be restarted to reflect the configuration changes.

From now on all information messages are disabled. Only warnings and errors will be put into event log.

Narawen Inox POP3 Connector Installer does not detect Microsoft .NET Framework correctly

This product requires Microsoft .NET Framework component version 2.0 or higher installed prior to installation.

Affected product:

Narawen Inox POP3 Connector 5.1 SR1 (2006-09-25)

Symptoms:

When you try to uninstall or upgrade to newer version of Narawen Inox POP3 Connector you receive following error message:

This product requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 component installed prior to installation. Download it from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5

The message is shown even if computer have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or higher installed. The uninstall/upgrade process is blocked.

Reason:

Due to bug in product installer routine responsible for Microsoft .NET Framework detection it can not detect framework versions higher than 2.0.

It causes the uninstaller to fail during launch and blocks uninstall or upgrade operation.

Solution:

Apply the fix provided by Narawen Software:

  1. Download and unzip a fix package inox_fix200801.zip.
  2. Run it at the computer where Narawen Inox POP3 Connector is installed.
    Please note that the fix package requires administrator privileges to run.
  3. Click Start button to search for installed package and fix them if necessary.

After applying the fix you will be able to uninstall or upgrade the product.
